Park Hosts A’Level Student Visit

Sixth Form Students from Saffron Walden County High School
were welcomed, as part of National Science Week on Wednesday
14th March. The purpose of the visit was to raise the profile
of science and technology options in terms of careers for
the future.
Katherine Maguire, Park Manager, provided an overview of
the Park and detailed the facilities available for employee’s.
Nigel Coates, from Biotica and Don Simpson from Biofocus
DPI, both presented an insight into the scientific works
undertaken by each company, showing how their products and/or
services were utilised independently or as part of a much
largrer project.
Student were then split into three groups and taken to see
the laboratories at work. These visits generated much interest
and many questions about possible work experience placements.
Grateful thanks were expressed by the teachers as they departed
and it is anticipated that a Forum for Teachers and Business
will be hosted later this year at the Park. Special thanks
to Amanda Newman, who coordinated the visit, and Tracy Jennings
and David Kronch for assisting with the visit to the labs.
Chesterford Research Park has been a supporter of National
Science Week for several years, supporting science based
initiatives at Chesterfun After School Club, in Great Chesterford.
This was the first time that students were invited to the
Park. |
