Chesterford Research Park triathletes raise over £1,000 for Cancer Research UK

Park tri-team celebrates fantastic finishing times and fundraising success at the London Triathlon!

Tuesday 2nd August 2011: A group of gym members from Chesterford Research Park, along with Gym Manager, Noel Cooper competed in the London Triathlon on Saturday July 30th and raised £1,100 for Cancer Research UK in the process.

The annual event was held at London’s ExCeL Centre and consisted of a 750m open water swim, 20km bike and 5km run.

David Donald, Onkar Shoker and Stephen Coles all from Illumina, whose HQ is located at the Park and Gym Manager Noel Cooper all completed the gruelling course in very respectable times ranging from 1hr 42mins to 2hrs 7mins.

The team really enjoyed the unique experience of competing in the event.  David Donald, Network Systems Administrator at Illumina commented of the day: “It felt like quite an intimidating challenge – although the individual distances were not that far, the thought of doing all three in quick succession was no easy feat!  The swim was the most challenging section for me, trying to navigate through so many other swimmers at once was an experience!”
