Battle on the park.................. 2006!!
The annual inter-company Five a Side Football Tournament took place on Thursday 18th May. The weather was a little windy but the rained stayed away and didn't stop some great football action. Co-ordinated by staff from The Nucleus Health and Fitness Centre, eight Teams commenced battle. Biotica, Arakis, Solexa, Security and Cellzome entered one team each and BioFocus entered three teams this year.
As anticipated the matches proved to be very competitive. Arakis matches seemed to be the loudest, mainly due to the sideline coaching and support from spectators. A few of the matches became very competitive with a few dubious tackles being thrown in! Teams were finding it hard to score, either the goal keepers were doing a great job, or the goals were a little small. Either way it made for a great game. .
On pitch two it looked like Arakis would be going through until right at the end when BioFocus managed to gain a win! Cellzome played well throughout but just couldn't manage to find the back of the net. On pitch one Security were playing great considering they had no subs to bring on, but they kept going till the end. Solexa put up a brave fight but again missed out on gaining a vital goal!! It again came down to one win and that was Biotica beating BioFocus in the last game! .
So once again this year it became a battle between BioFocus and Biotica for the title! Both teams were struggling to score even though some great football was being played! As the time ticked by it looked like it was going to be settled on penalties again! But then 20 seconds from the end BioFocus stepped up a gear and a goal was scored! .
